Tom initial brainwave was to go reclamation sites for old store fronts used in construction, but after a fruitless search, he decided they would have to build a new kitchen from scratch and make it look like an authentic vintage style brasserie.
"Because we decided to do something completely new by using materials that we had not worked before, it was an act of faith for the owner, Tom said, but it was worth it, as she is delighted with the results.

"Everything in the kitchen was custom built to resemble a vintage style French brasserie," Tom said. "the warehouse itself has an industrial atmosphere, but the owner has used a mixture of styles for decoration, so the kitchen fits in really well.

Tom walnut used for cabinets, but he turned to a writer sign in Cornwall to create the glass panels gilded front. Tom gave the inside of the island a more contemporary feel with a spacious drawer bank that highlight the walnut grain.

"Because we have used solid walnut drawer in the construction, we could carve a tension detail finger top, "Tom said. "If we put handles on all drawers, he was too busy. In this way, the island looks really elegant, and fit into the mix of modern and traditional styles in the rest of the apartment.

The island is covered in a single slab of marble Calacatta Oro that reflects light from the large windows. It was done off site in Increation workshops and do it in the apartment was a challenge in itself. "We did not want the island to have an ugly joints, so it is one piece, Tom said. "But it was just too big to climb stairs and no elevator, so we rented a crane to winch up through the large double doors in the wall of the apartment. There were a few hairy moments! He laughs.
