Kitchen Tour: Modern Country Kitchen soft gray with a breathtaking view - When the owners of the house beautifully situated contacted designer Richard Davonport, the kitchen was small and far away. "With two teenagers, the owners wanted to enjoy as much time together as possible," he explains. "So it was absolutely essential for the new kitchen was large enough to accommodate the socialization and arranged in a way that encouraged him."
The beautiful view of the river and the sea was another main focus. The couple wanted to make the most of the beautiful view and integrate outside the kitchen. Davonport decided to create a smooth connection between the spaces that makes the garden feel lived in all year.

The structural column was difficult because it was very important in the room. It was therefore an integral part of the design, rather than being hidden. The positioning of the pillar was suitable for the formation of a corner of the island, so now a circle of oak breakfast emerges from the column and connects to the rest of the island.
The owner chose soft gray for the units, but the island was painted in a slightly darker shade for the subtle depth

There two types of material on the work plans - sharpened Antique Zimbabwe granite and oak. "Granite is good for preparation and wetlands where you would not porous wood," says Davonport. But it's cold, so the living area, we used wood as it is more tactile and enjoyable to rest your arm on.

folding doors are an important part of the extension as they maximize the beautiful view. They were left unpainted to pick up the solid wood oak flooring and framing the landscape. Small windows on the other hand are white and blend into the walls.
The floor was painted for protection, which gives a glossy sheen to oak.

the owners wanted to make a feature of their Aga, while they had rehabilitated and re-enamelled for their new kitchen room. It was logical to use the fireplace, and the team Davonport added an oak mantle above. They even incorporated subtle spice cabinets in the surroundings, which are useful but not too difficult.
The backsplash is made of the same polished granite worktops that. It has a slightly mottled effect, which is especially useful in a hard water area, because it does not show fingerprints.

Davonport made the most of the high ceiling adding height storage. The door next to the high-oven houses a pullout larder, and next to it is a curve storage unit.
LED spotlights are used for task lighting to illuminate different areas of the kitchen. There is also light in the unity of the dresser radiated glass, making it a feature of the dishes inside.
To help with back pain owner, Davonport chose a drawer dishwasher that you can access without stooping too. The same idea was used for the refrigerator in the window below.
